The Elective Program for fourth year medical students at the Christian Medical College & Hospital in Vellore, India is a flexible program which allows students individual experiences. The students determine the type of experience they want/need according to their school's requirements. They then convey that to CMC which will try to provide that kind of experience. For example, if a student is interested in Tropical Medicine, he will be posted in that department. If she is interested in Community Health, she will have the opportunity to spend time there. If the student wants a broader experience, arrangements can be made for her to visits the different departments of her interests. Because of this flexibility, we thought it would be valuable to post the various experiences students have had during their elective period at Vellore. The reports are from the students themselves and express their own impression of CMC and their time there. The links on the left are arranged by departments. Some of the reports are from medical students in other years (1st, 2nd, or 3rd) who visit CMC as a student observer/volunteer. As we collect more reports, we will post them so, in the not too distant future, we should have all the major departments at the institution represented. Some of the reports are in pdf format so you will need Acrobat Reader
to view them. If you don't already have it, you can download a
